“The Farm to Fork Strategy recognizes that the transition to sustainable food systems requires changes in people’s dietary choices. However, the inextricable links between the health of people, planet and communities often make it difficult to determine which choice is the healthy and sustainable choice.

Empowering consumers through better information and education on healthy and sustainable diets will be a key enabler to achieve both European and global agri-food ambitions. Yet, what this means in practice remains disputed and consumers are confronted with inconsistent, and at times conflicting, messages. The responsibility to make the healthy and sustainable dietary choices the easiest choice is shared amongst policymakers and across all actors in the food supply chain.

During this event, we will bring together policymakers, academics, industry and civil society representatives to share practices across Europe in defining healthy and sustainable diets, exchange views on the best channels and ways forward for improving consumer education and for nudging people toward more sustainable food choices by looking at the latest trends in consumer behaviour and the role for supply chain actors.”
