The European FoodForum is an independent, politically-led, non-partisan multi-stakeholders forum led and governed by our elected Members of the European Parliament.
EFF aims to promote open dialogue on sustainable food systems among policymakers, food supply chain actors, civil society organizations, research and academia, and other public institutions.
The European Food Forum does not itself take positions on specific policy issues.
“On November 5th 2019, 5 Members of the European Parliament created European Food Forum, which will be a unique platform to discuss issues related to food policy with all the interested parties. Our ambition is to shape policy debates around sustainable food production, consumer protection, food quality and environmental protection. We call all the interested stake – holders to join us and discuss together one of the most interesting topics for EU citizens.”
“European Food Forum starts off today as a debate forum for all the actors involved in food in its broadest sense. As a co-founder member, in this brief review I would like to recall also the fishing, the extractive and the aquaculture sectors, as essential food actors in Europe – and which cannot be neglected in the debates of this platform that is born today to deepen in an open dialogue to accommodate all the actors in the chain in the widest terms. I sincerely hope that this will help us pave the way towards a true EU Food Policy that will benefit all citizens.”
“First of all, I would like to congratulate the promoters of this initiative. I’m very pleased to become cofounder of the new Food Forum. It will certainly represent a very useful platform for fruitful exchanges with all food chain operators on the most important challenges for the years to come. The new polices envisaged by the European Commission, mainly the so called Green Deal, and the future sustainable agricultural and food policy will certainly attract our attention. I hope the new Food Forum would allow us to have enriching discussions with all the sectors concerned at European, national and local level on the best solutions for their future.”
“The European Food Forum fills an existing gap in the policy debate at the EP. If we want a better Common Agricultural Policy, we should better listen to the needs of our farmers and consumers. What we all want in the end is safe and quality food, produced ecologically and at affordable price. We owe this to our children and the future generations. As a member of AGRI and CULT committees, I join the EFF with a mission – to involve more young people in the big challenge of transforming our agri-food systems and becoming the food champions of tomorrow!”
“We need the European Food Forum to discuss a policy approach to the agri-food sector which benefits consumers, business growth and European agriculture and fishery. I believe the forum model tested in other sectors such as the Internet Forum is a very effective way to allow an open discussion on emerging topics. The European agri food sector is worldwide leader in terms of quality, sustainability, tradition and this deserves the active involvement of all the relevant stakeholders.”
